The pipe union is for warm air intake at start up. Same as the one on the exhaust heatshield for S3 (or the one you would have had). No computers here mate.

Still can't get my head around the concept of feeding warm air to something that's gonna get really, really hot  Those crazy fun-loving inscrutable Jap types. Not sure where the computers come into it? :?

not had the chance to do anything to this car since the last update other than put it back in the garage for the winter.... work, house refurbishments, family life, more work, just takes up all my time at the moment.
In an effort to keep my enthusiasm alive and cheer myself up a bit, I've just refurbed my exhaust ready to go back on the car.......
not exactly news worthy I admit but at least it's sort of progress.

one step closer ian, plus its a break from the routines of life.
it's not the time of year to be out freezing your nuts off in the garage anyways.
unless you have a heater lol.

Just catching up on your thread here Ian. It is looking damn fine. Does make me miss my old Elford, sure do notice the lack of horses under the bonnet of the replacement.

cheers gents, yeah James once you've been turbo'd you don't want to go back to stock.... I can't believe your car hasn't surfaced somewhere...... even if it was nicked for scrap, you can't imagine that someone wouldn't try to make a few extra quid by ebaying some of the parts..... how are you getting on with your new car?

How's this coming along Ian? You solve the heat shield issue?

A pas cooler is a good idea regardless as it extends the life of the fluid and therefore the box itself - simple to fit and easy to hide, no massive need to put them in direct airflow as they generally radiate enough by design.

I presume you'll be running the original wheels? Highly polished stockies would look neat on the silver. Have you thought about tyres or have you already got a good set?

I've got a sheet of polished stainless so I'm going to bend up a heat shield out of that.
This car has been on hold for the last 15 months really due to work commitments but things have settled down since christmas and I've started getting back into it this week.
The stock s3 wheels are going to Pristine wheels in the next couple of days to be refurbished and diamond cut like new so they should look the dogs when they get back.
The tyres on the car have been on for 21 years and are scrap so I've been looking at various tyres this week but there isn't a lot of choice in 205/60/14 ....still undecided atm.
I've sent the rear hatch struts off today to be re-gassed so should get them back for the weekend or early next week.
The pas systems is designed so that the hard lines run from the steering box, across the front of the engine mount and onto the pump so that they are in the airflow from the front of the car and that provides the cooling.... apparently.
I've also changed the ecu to try to solve the choke problem and I've installed the air-conditioning evaporator unit..... a right bitch of a job with the dash in place.
It's all progress though and I'm glad to get things moving again on this car.
