This fb is going to be MINT. Great work Ian.
Are you keeping track of the hours you put in. It is either a lot, or you are very efficient.

Blimey, that looks proper! Is that with rattle cans or do you have a compressor and gun in your manshed, Ian?

This car should be very clean and tidy when you're done with it, better than new I'm sure!

s(c) Excellent work Ian - how long did that take and did you use a spraygun or cans? I spent another 3 hours on Kimi "de-rusting" yesterday and finding progress very slow. However, I'd rather "over-do" the rust busting before painting, rather than "under-do" it!
KIMI 1 : 1st Gen, "hybrid" 1983 silver S2 running gear in a 1985 S3 shell, SORN'd, long term resto project
KIMI 2 : 1st Gen, 1983 silver S2 - now sold to Ian Mothersole on here.
KIMI 3 : 1st Gen, 1983 red S3

its looking really good and i'm really looking forward to the end result.
one colour i think looks very modern for the fb is the one used for the 12a turbo kept in the mazda museum.

i've said it before, but heck it is nice, tornado silver :)

it looks alot nicer in the flesh so to speak and up close and the above pics show that maroon interior a little.
but silver is a flashy expensive colour, the rx8 looks great in it too.

as long as its not green.

thanks gents,

I'm sticking with the original colour of K3 sunbeam silver..... tornado does look good in some photos, less so in others. A bit of dust on it makes it look very dull and it looks sort of brown in certain lighting conditions which I don't like.
I agree that on a polished car it looks awesome..... unfortunately, I'm not one for polishing my cars and I think that K3 silver will be more practical for me... not to mention, most of the underside and engine bay had already been done in it and it's the cars original colour.
For the underside of the car and the engine bay, I get the paint mixed at my local auto paint factors and they put it into aerosols for me.... much easier to spray and gives a miles better finish than off the shelf stuff that the likes of Halfords sell.
I'll only be using it on the underbody and engine bay though.... the outer panels will get a professional respray at a bodyshop.
