These are getting hard to find but I can probably do you a pair, assuming it's coarse thread you need.

Send me details of length required and fitting (m/f) and I'll tell you what Ive got.

Will see what I can do. Will I need to disconnect them to tell what the fitting is? Silly question probably but have never done them before. It's a shame that Mr Goodridge doesn't do them off the shelf, well not for FB's anyway.

Since I fininished work early today, I thought I'd take TWiR out for a quick blat, pick up some coolant and flush, and finally change the thermostat. A great plan, except for the mother of all grinding and graunching when I tried to move the car! Thought I must have left something underneath after changing the shocks...nope... up onto stands and crawl about with a light... spin wheels ... run in gear all good until it's on the floor again and still graunching away.

Time passes, a lot of it, checking and testing with no result until  I got the trolley jack and raised the rear axle while on stands and spun the wheels... :!: bingo. The heat sheild was fouling the driveshaft. I guess I must have lent on it whilst trying to repair the rear exhaust section grrrrrrr

So, coolant change tomorrow then, what could possibly go wrong??? :x V(o

As was I mate. One of those situations where I should have really twigged much sooner but the panic sets in once the problem doesn't fix itself and overides the deep breaths and logic of it all

Speaking of exhausts, the car sounds a lot better with sound exiting from the rear rather than front and center as well. Unfortunately, the front blow is right by a flexi join and clamp so it's already cracked the repair, must see if I can bandage it. Still, could be worse.........

Anyone with a system or bits of, just lying about somewhere?? Might have to bite the bullet and get one made. I'll see how long I can make this one last.

TWiR 1986 S3 TWR

Post by KiwiDave »

I would really LIKE to do all the work myself but as I have a parking space and not a garage, I am limited by what four axle stands and a limited amount of tools and talent will allow me to do. Not that I can leave it on axle stands either.... I may as well make a sign 'Please don't take anything off this car while I am not here, thanks so much'. Well good, that will work well then :(

So, TWiR is now in the hands of Andy at AMT Automotive in Shalford and should return to me by Thursday with the following bits in situ...

Image
Rather nice KONI front inserts in RED

Image
Rather nice Watts Link bushes in RED

Image
Various front bushes (not in RED but you can't have everything, can you!)

Image
Springs from Germany in RED which will hopefully do the business :?:

And you will get pics once the car is back with me. There is still the rear upper and lower arm bushes to go on as well so hopefully I can get that done myself. The ones on the car will do for now.
