Why would you want a swirl pot when using carbs?

A swirl pot ensures that you have a constant supply of fuel and prevents the effect of surge from the fuel tank and thus fuel starvation.

But carbs have float chambers, which would negate the need for a swirl pot imo.

Well maybe, but I tend to trust the advice that I get from Pip at WGT. Perhaps you know best.

Rally Crossing, high curve velocity, blubbery empty fuel tank, highly moddified carb system, low and hard suspension are rare conditions so would have to have a lean engine. You will win the race would cause to have such conditions and so it will help.

It is of more use in motorsport on a carbed engine as you rightly say Thomas.
