Kypreo I'm a bit like you, I've had my car for 27 years and it is the same as the day got it, still running an original Mazda exhaust, air pump and rats nest. I have over the years acquired a full Elford set up plus other upgrades, but can not bring myself to change any of it while it is still all functioning and original.
Even though some of the paintwork has rubbed through on the tops of the wings the car has all its original paint, I can't even bring myself to have this repainted. It's only original once .....

Wow thanks for the kind words fellas. Deep down I'm a purist and no spoiler is probably the right thing to do. But it also seems so wrong. I'm completely torn!

And Dean i agree. Tender Blue with grey interior is my favorite combo. 2nd favorite is the optional 2 tone charcoal/silver we got here with red interior.

I grew up in Melbourne and for Aus, the blue was best and two tone which we called the dolphin colour are the best we got. Since living in Europe seeing the dark grey and black, it has expanded my favorite colour palette!

Slick is best.....No Spoiler!

I would stick with Option 1, the car looks great
Option 2 would be very difficult to achieve as the chance of getting a trained colour matched tender blue pigeon in the Southern hemisphere is unlikely as I know (as does Jonny Depp now) that letting foreign creatures, including pets into your great country is a NO NO.

Yes, mostly in UK and i like it more then the rubber one.

Option (2) Factory black rubber spoiler, which is how the car came in the UK and on Germany

modern wheel and modern rear spoiler like your Option 1 work together.
Option 3 only with OEM or oldschool wheel.

stick with the one you already have or ditch the spoiler idea altogether. Personally I hate the horrible rubber one that came on UK spec cars... it looks like a cheap and nasty add-on from a motor accessory shop.... by far the nicest spoiler for the FB is an Elford one but they are very hard to find in the UK.... the chances of finding one in Aus must be remote.

Thanks for all the input guys. This has given me plenty to mull over.

I still think all 3 options look great. But it seems the rubber spoiler will be hard to find in good condition. It seems the Aussie sun makes short work of them,

I'm drifting towards the no spoiler option mainly because I can always put it back on. If I go this way, I would hang on to the current spoiler just in case. Also I can put in a proper antenna again - the demister one I have been using didn't cut it all. And the pin stripes which continue around the back and down the sides.

I'm all for the completely standard look, but it will hard to impossibly to fit my brakes under 14" or 15" wheels. Well, 15s *might* be possible. Dial tone wheels from our Mazda 929 would look really good. But the engineer approving my conversion for registration purposes may well require me to have the bigger brakes. I have FD calipers and am looking at FD discs (294mm diameter). Any smaller (e.g. FC disc) and apparently the calipers will foul on the inside of my current 17" rims with the way everything will be set up. Sitting 294mm rotors and 4 piston calipers under 15" might be a feat!

Oh, and yes the spoiler on the red car is made by Eziglass here in Melbourne.

Long time between drinks guys. I've spent the last year collecting parts basically (I've got a very nice stash of NOS and rare second hand parts now) while my mechanic (who is also a close friend) transitioned to a new phase of his business, going from a home workshop to a proper factory setup with employees. After a long hiatus, we now have movement at the station. Engine bay is stripped and the entire steering, suspension and crossmember is going. The only thing that is staying is the swaybar (an upgraded 25mm item), which you can see in the last pic. The rest will be upgraded to series 5 turbo gear and FD brakes. Begone recirculating ball steering forever
