Crikey time does fly by when you are getting on with other stuff.

So the the hope was that I could reuse the plates and housings and have a mean porting job carried out by Era @ Oldone's.

But on dismantling the block we were met with some nasty looking plates and housings - sadtimes

Water had made its way into the chamber and had sat for a while causing corrosion.
Excessive wear on plates also, that even resurfacing would not solve.
Serrated edges to ports, indicating that side seals had been catching on the unchamfered edge.

Hi, I has seen it worst and it can reused it again.
Grind to removed much as possibly to clear up.
put in shim or machined off the stationary gears to clear the E shaft's journal or machining journal to clear.
buy new or grinding the float end spacer to match the play.
Remember the plate will be soft after grinding and need much two stoke oil premixed to stop the side/cornerseals dig into the plate.
It's for race only.

I had done it many year ago on a bridge port engine while leading the national speed championship class until it blew up on the last round due to lack of oil:(.
Give away championship point to someone who don't even try hard enough to gain it!..it was a hard luck.

So one thing lead to another, we discussed options, wrote some stuff down, made a list, drank some coffee, spoke to some people, talked some shit, made a visit to see TOOL, and came home with a box of these

As the engine was away this gave me time to look at some of the other bits under the hood.

The weber carb was looking tired so I sent it off for a refurb. Mainly for peace of mind that it was all working nicely when the time comes to start it up again.
