Time to start a thread. The car is familiar to some of you but it is new to me. Got to admit it really takes me back to the days of my youth and borrowing my flatmates 7. So much fun to drive.

Just wondering where you sourced the headlamps and rear box from?

I've just put MX-5 lamps onto TWiR and I thought they were a good upgrade until James and I put both cars together with lights on!

And I like the idea of a removable silencer as well. Did you do the system yourself? A nice compact setup.

The units were replaced and IIRC phillips bulbs, I direct wired them to the gen 2 fuse box with a reply being operated by the original wiring, like you say the diffence is impressive

The back box was a eBay jobbie that I had made up to fit, wasn't sure how long it would last but it did great noises but not deafening, only used the silencer when it had a mot although I'm not sure it made much difference!

I am now fully capable of removing, and re-installing, a fuel tank of an fb in 10 minutes.

I developed a small leak in the tank which i thought could be repaired by a bit of blasting and soldering. Not the case as the blasting must have been vigorous and it came out the other end resembling a giant tea pig.


So a quick call to Ian to source me a replacement. Thanks Ian. Turned up Friday afternoon at work, had to hump it home strapped to my back on the motorbike Then fitted it before Saturday morning in time to get down to Oldone's for an Exile meet up.

Then later that week pulled it back out to tidy it up for future protection. A bit of sanding and some Hammerite.


Later that same week i head down to the lock up to get the car out to pick up the missus from an evening class and while the car is idling, as i lock the garage, it cuts out. Knowing this not to be a coincidence i am straight under the car - fuel filter dry. Hmm although i had clearly labelled the fuel lines I had failed to attach them correctly. Doh. Car up on stands, drop tank, reattach lines correctly as labelled, fit tank, car off stands, 10 minutes later all is as it should be.
