Wow Ian,

Great car and a great base for an original project. Good luck getting it running and cleaned up. I don't know how easy or difficult it is but I would definately clean the fuel tank out after all that sitting around. wouldn't want any of that gunk going through the engine hey.

Only 143 miles from my house to Ian's garage. Just as well it was a nice day for a drive.
Managed to fit in a few other jobs also.

back to work today so not much car time..... as the weather's going to turn nasty towards the end of the week, I need to get this car into my garage in the dry. Although the brakes have released slightly, pushing the car is a real struggle. I'm going to be rebuilding the brakes and fitting new pads anyway ( I soaked the old pads in oil when we winched it onto the trailer to reduce the friction) so this evening I took the pads out of each wheel to make moving the car easier.

the surface of the discs is in really good condition... a bit of a clean up and they'll be good to go... and stop hopefully!

from inside the wheel arch it looks great.... when I took the interior out I checked the inside and I could see the metal was just starting to discolour so it will need some preventative work in the next couple of years.... no problem for the next mot though.

had a look at the clutch hysraulics today... a long shot but I wanted to try and get a pedal.... I can then move the car under its own power... at the moment there's no pedal at all.

I took the master cylinder off and stripped it...







I cleaned all of the crud out of the bore, blew it through with the air line, re-assembled it and gave it a quick blow over with the satin black...



Put the master back on the car and then took the slave off....



I thought it was all going too well....



seized solid... scrap!
Time for a new one.

Ordered some parts last night from Rockauto to fix the clutch and rebuild the brakes ....got a good deal from those boys....

Got caliper repair kits for the front brakes, caliper repair kits for the back brakes and 2x clutch slaves all for £49 shipped... gotta be right!

Ive got a couple of 2nd hand slaves if the bore is trashed on than one, although I suspect you have a couple lying around to.

Parts arrived Friday morning from Rockauto.... great service, I only ordered them Tuesday night... they provide full online tracking to so I could follow their route from Denver to Indianapolis then onwards to Gatwick and Stoke....

during the last few weeks, I've been fortunate to pick up some really rare 1st gen parts.... one of which was this instrument cluster from Tools JDM 12a turbo...

the top cluster is a uk spec set out of a series 2, the bottom set the JDM turbo cluster...



the main differences to the faces are the metric clock faces and the factory boost gauge in place of the volt meter.

the warning lights are also different....

the jdm lights have warnings for 'doors open' and 'exhaust overheat'...



and these are the uk spec warning lights...



the main reason for buying this JDM instrument cluster was because it contains a speed sensor,which I need for my next project...power steering...

this sensor is not available in the UK spec clusters / cars...
