Re: Vyv - my series 3

Nice find :)

unfortunately time has got the better of me this year (as it usually does) so there is no engine swap as yet. I can't risk taking it off the road now, only to find I have problems and can't get it up and running in time for the two important events this year, so I've decided to leave it for now. I really don't want it to end up a rush job, Vyv deserves better than that!

I will get it painted, and I treated it to a more retro looking head unit, but that's it.

This winter will see the engine finally come out, and the elford go in...

So...with retro rides only a few months away, I've finally got a few spare days to spend on Vyv...today the stripping began :)

Should hopefully get another few hours on it tomorrow, then it will be some late nights I guess...hopefully it will all be worth it!

I'm sure it will Marc, are you changing the colour ? As I think tender blue is one of the best colours.

Indeed, it is a lovely colour...although Vyv isn't quite tender blue...the closest match I've found is a Toyota colour, which is on the driver's door at the moment, and doesn't quite match.

I am changing the colour, to a matt gunmetal grey...it's a rubber coating, and one of the services we offer at Paragon. No better advert than your own car ;)
Of course, it could all go horribly wrong, and it might look pants...but it won't look much worse than the keyed panels and rusty bits do now

Got some filler on last night, and went over tonight to start sanding. I have a couple of orbital sanders, so I used an old vacuum to make an extraction system, kept the dust down a treat :)

this bit was tricky, and needs another go

Image

but bits on the bonnet and roof were quite easy

I put some primer on to see where the pinholes etc are, needs a bit more work tomorrow night...but still on schedule for a respray this weekend :)

and I started to get some colour on the outside, nice comparison between blue and grey, and I'm pleased with the repaired area around the wiper :)
