Vyv - my series 3

Post by Marc S »

Hi all,

glad to have found this site, what a lovely place to be :)

This is mine, well, ours...Karissa is my better half, and it belongs to, and gets driven by, both of us :D

It's an 84 series 3, in tender blue, with 120ish thousand miles on the clock...although the engine is from a series 2, and was rebuilt about 30k miles ago...

We recently purchased a moon roof for it, something I have always wanted :)

I have ordered a fair few other parts recently, as we hope to rebuild and restore it over the winter - it was keyed on most panels, and winter has taken it's toll, so the bodywork is a little worse for wear...hopefully it'll look lovely in time for Japfest 2012, as it did in 2010 :)

Datto???

In the earlier pics, there is a spitfire in the small garage, the rex is parked next to an MG ZS in the workshop (under the cover, big spoiler on the boot  )

Engine bay is in a right mess...more rust and oil than anything else at the moment :(
I have the beehive oil cooler though...which reminds me, I need to find the size of the O rings I need to sort that oil leak out...

Remember Tim White at RX Motors knows about those 'O' Rings. I think he can supply an uprated material.

As part of this winter's project, I wanted to lose the cricket bats...

I have been hunting around, and couldn't find a pair of nice aero mirrors, but I did find some decent aftermarket jobbies, had a trial fit today - straight direct fit using the original fixing holes, and covers the wiring hole too :D

anyway...enough chat, here's the before and after shots :)

Probably not to everyone's taste, but I quite like them, and if we all liked the same thing the World would be a very boring place

they actually look very similar to Aeros Marc, the closest I've seen.... I do like the aero shape mirrors.... much nicer than cricket bats

Shame they're not powered by the magic of electrickery...but then my old ones don't move in every direction anyway

and at £35 the pair, I think they're ok :)

Mirrors look great Marc :)

How does their field of vision compare to stock? Are they very adjustable?

I must say that the Mazda aero mirrors don't give such a good field of vision as the cricket bats and take a bit of getting used to.... (I even considered putting the bats back on at first) but I soon got used to them and I wouldn't go back now.
