are you trying to replace an oil cooler or convert from beehive to oil cooler?

If trying to convert, I have a used FC cooler, and stock FC lines, but I don't think the lines will work, new ones will need making. I put an FC cooler on one of mine.

I also have an ebay cooler stock fitment type on my race car, depends how in a rush you are but I will be upgrading the oil cooler I think so that one would also be available.

our stock S2 under rad cooler is starting to leak, I can see elsewhere it has been welded before so I would like to replace. I had new hoses made when we recommisioned the car so all I need is a cooler and to make brackets seeing as both ours have no rubber blocks remaining!!
Would you know what thread the standard cooler inlet and outlet are?
I have seen the e-bay aluminium ones...that may well do the job if the threads match up with no hassle.

Ah, if you're replacing a stock one you won't want an FC one as it will mount differently. If you're in a rush I would keep looking as I won't be removing the one from my race car until I have a replacement, but it will be available when I've changed it.

The ebay/worley FC ones have a thermostat, the fb ones dont seem to. I've used a couple of the ebay ones, and they work and fit fine, but I don't think cool as well on track as a stock one in good condition. The lack of a thermostat hasn't ever bothered me, oil warms up much quicker than in my diesel audi for instance. Also these cars don't like short journeys and not getting warm anyway.

Front cover to top port, lower to rear plate.
  • S1/2 - fittings on back, thermostat port at bottom. Mounts are on the top and flat, but different heights. M16x1.5
  • GSL-SE - fittings on back, thermostat port at bottom. Symmetrical mounts at the top M16x1.5
  • FC - banjo inlet fitting at top and normal outlet on back, thermostat port at bottom. Vertical mounts. M18x1.5
  • (rear plate is m18x1.5 and front cover m16x1.5)

So the e-bay S1 or 2 cooler has M16x1.5 threads on the two ports, is that the same as the original do you know? I will not know until I dismantle which will be when I have parts to replace because the old one will likely be worse when I take the two hoses off. My hoses were remade for me so ideally wishing to re use them even if I need an adaptor.

Yes the Ebay ones and original ones use the same fittings. The eBay coolers often don't have the end tank built right, there's no thermostat (not a big issue) and the end tank is open with no separator. This means oil flows straight in and out the end tank without going through the core. This is a big issue.

about to decide what to do with oil cooler, so if the e-bay one have no baffle between the in and out ports it must basically be useless? not sure what to do now.

They do something, but not very good as most of the oil flows through the end tank not the core. I have a new racing oil cooler delivered now, so will be fitting that, and when I get the old ebay one off, I will try and get some pictures with my borescope to post here how the end tank looks inside.
