Rx8 ownership and rebuild....

Post by richrx »

I enjoyed this guys series of videos, guys at Rotary Revs seem decent, some nice accidental information on a certain engine builder, which is maybe deliberate but subtle?

It is pretty basic... But rotary content 0-0

I'll link to video 1...

Seem good videos. Didn't pick up on the reference to another engine builder, what was it?

Much as I dislike Wayward, pretty standard terms for an engine rebuild.

I've never rebuilt one, or opened up an engine so only have others for information. From a layman's point of view I would be disappointed in 30k from a 4k rebuild, as it appears miles rather than time have resulted in low compression. Although in the circumstances I know the maintenance of the engine is unknown/suspect.

Rotary Revs guys appeared a bit confused on the porting done, although with out the knowledge personally I don't know if it says more Rotary Revs guys or the original builder?

I am a disgruntled customer so perhaps I'm over reading...

I just finished watching his BMW 330d build series.
Enjoyable.

That last episode of the RX8 had me wondering though.
Rotary Revs had it on the dyno and didn’t spot anything amiss. He takes it to Surrey Rolling Road and the dude instantly says there’s something wrong with it.
Rotary Revs should have spotted that unless he’s saying it happened afterwards?

Yeah the BMW series was alright aye. They have come along quite well.

He did mention that he had been driving it quite a bit and making it pop/bang didn't he? Could have happened during then I guess

Doesn't help with the desire to have an E46 330d daily driver though....

I've gotta guess since Rotary Revs spotted the fuel pump issue, surely they would have no hesitation on highlighting a sensor too with the lack of power?
