A490 GVT - Gold Series 2

Post by Greeneunos »

rx72 (640x480).jpg
Hi I have had this rx7 since 1991 but at present it is in dry storage ( 5 years ) due to the fuel tank having perforations in it , it has only done 69000 mls , it has the complete original engine , exhaust system, interior etc etc , can a fuel tank be obtained from anywhere ?
thanks mike

Mike,
it may be worth asking a Mazda dealer..... certainly series 3 tanks are no longer available but I don't know if that applies to tanks for series 2 cars like yours.
You could always put a wanted ad on this forum in the classified section to see if anyone has got a spare tank.
Your other option is a second hand tank..... check this out.... Dave is breaking a series 2 car in Manchester...

Hi
Is our car a series 2 ?
The engine code is 12A and the chassis starts JMZFB13
Thanks for the info on the fuel tank .
The car looks the same as when it went in to storage as its in a heated garage , I'm going to make a determined effort to get a tank '' the wife wants it back on the road '' cheers mike

I used a company that splits the tank, repairs any damage and coats it in a rubberised finish. I got a good service from them and the tank is like new.

Lovely looking car, your wheels look great, there was a few hours worth of polishing on each one s(c) I had a gold S2 in the 90s but in not as good condition.

Seems the car is a early Serie 3 (1983). Show us a picture of the spare wheel. S3 Tank is a little bigger 63 Liter so the place for the spare wheel is smaller.
Btw good wife always do what she say. And same care to your wife like the car is getting.

sorry, but this car is definitely a series 2. You need a tank from a series 2 car other wise it won't fit. Series 3 cars look like the one in my signature, the usual giveaway being the different wheels. Series 3 tanks are bigger and have a drain plug which s2 tanks don't have, plus the fuel line connections are screwed in instead of being welded in on the s2's
