KILLERTON CLASSIC CAR SHOW

Post by DKWW2000 »

Yesterday I took the car to the above Classic Car Show, one of the largest in the S West. It was excellent, the weather was good (which can always make or break such a event) & there was in excess of 450 Classic/Vintage & rare cars on display in the beautiful grounds of the National Trusts Killerton House, N East of Exeter. This was open to the pulic who came from far & wide as it also gave them access to the house & grounds.
I took the 12a Display I have (Housing/Rotor & Shaft) mounted on a small Plinth which can be rotated by turning a handle attached to the end of the shaft yet still someone managed to pinch their finger
The display drew a constant audience who took great delight in turning & scratching their heads & then looking in my engine bay in disbelief.
It was a great success & with most only having heard of the design so this was the first time they had seen a demo let alone one in a car :o
It did a lot to promote the Rotary with several people saying they wanted a FB & were actively looking out for one at the moment, of course they were pointed in the Forums direction, even one couple who had a very nice scimitar GTE had it for sale & were keen on the low mileage white one currently listed on Ebay :)

Many Car clubs attented, Jaguar, Mercedes, MX 5,Golf GTI,Triumph TR, MG, Cortina GTs, (no Mk III) & many County clubs.
There were only 3 Japanese cars from the 70/80s - 1x Datsun 180B,1x Honda Accord & mine

My camera went T..s up after 5 photos so I think your job is secure Nik

Fortunately the pictures were of one of my all time favourite cars. very popular on the continent & & was the Capri's main rival but did not sell well in UK so this is a very rare example:-
