London Classic Car Show 2014

Post by KiwiDave »

It's a new event ... hope this becomes a 'thing' because it wasn't half bad really. Is on at the Excel Center until Sunday. Here's a few snaps to be going on with ...

For Nik ... it's large and American
Image

Mr May contributes his thoughts in a nicely laid out, art gallery type presentation. More on that after the weekend
Image

1902 Olds 'Curved Dash' model
Image

with comprehensive curved dash
Image

A good guess would be Series 3 XJ pepperpots right?
Image

Doh! William Towns' finest hour ... The Aston Martin Lagonda. I've never seen one 'in the metal' and it's quite a thing to behold
Image

Not a thing to behold. The AM Cygnet ... an Toyota IQ in fancy clothes and for you Sir, a snip at £31.995 !
Image

Nice ass
Image

If you make it, it will become legendary. Answers please
Image

Who recognises the plate?
Image

It's a real one too
Image

And so is this, the genuine millionth Moggy ... honest
Image

Image

Nice XJS Celebration
Image

Apparently, they don't just do scooters

More later :)

LOL I've got the Professionals box set ... must look out for that. I couldn't take a front on pic as it has 'Minder' across the front just to leave you in no doubt whatsoever

Needs no intro really
Image

Aston Martin's contribution to a smaller carbon footprint, the Cygnet. A toyota IQ all frocked up. At 32 grand, it's expensive smugness
Image

Image

Ferrari 365 Daytona ... timeless
Image

Engine bay is the cleanest I have ever seen ... amazing :!:
Image

Image

Not sure that this is timeless or classic even
Image

But I do like the exoskeleton seats 8)
Image

Legend
Image

Some folks are easily pleased :)
Image

Flawed mechanically but designed brilliantly
Image

Image

DS still cuts it today .. rare decapotable circa 1966
Image

Image

Image

The Professor's officeImage

Mr Hunt's office
Image

Another one for Nik ... Corvette Stingray
Image

XJC prices on the up apparently
Image

BRM ... that distinctive nose paint
Image

Still the best livery ever
Image

Bugatti Type 35B
Image

Iconic
Image

Image

and this...
Image

It's not easy being green Lancia Stratos HF Stradale
Image

Droop Snoot Firenza ... Nice 8)
Image

Image

Lotus Carlton. Want, Want
Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

This is a Jenson .. that's all I know and I had to look for the badge to even know that much! Shades of 300SL in the front wing design
Image

I quite like this .. just as a design thing
Image

cool that it's attached to a Bugatti
Image

Alfa Romeo 6C .. before the lightweight era
Image

contrast this ... a mega cute Fiat Topolino
Image

Landcrab Ute ... doesn't look half bad either.
Image

The business end of a Bentley Blower
Image

This one was built in 2003
Image

Image

and it's yours for around £440 K

Anything with a Lancia page generally gets me moving in the trouser department but those two, the S4 and the Stratos are cars I'd drag my nuts through broken glass for. W(p W(p W(p W(p W(p W(p W(p W(p

Great pics, Dave. Some real good ones in there. I do love the opening salvo, you're quite right. Nothing in life that can't be cured by an SS Chevelle

In the interests of pure pedantry, it should be pointed out that technically that's a Sting Ray rather than a Stingray, on account of being a C2 rather than C3, but I'll let it slide this once ;)

I shall consider myself let off quite lightly then. But do feel free to point out future oversights. I do realise that it's for my own good, obviously ;)

And speaking of pendantry, I had a jolly good thrust at the 'Pedant of the Month' award in this month's C&SC. I mean, one does try to explore both sides of the fence.
