According to 'how many left'... ( and I know it's not a super reliable resource for many reasons but it does give an indicative trend), combined totals for licensed and sorn cars
2009 = 485
2010 = 440
2011 = 417
2012 = 382
2013 = 370
so inevitably still a downward trend but quite a low rate of attrition, probably due to the remaining cars either being in or finding their way into the hands of enthusiasts.
There are also obviously a good few cars still out there that have been in long term storage / or laid up that don't fall into sorn so these numbers will be slightly higher as this database doesn't include them.
No a massive drop year on year though.

Re: UK 1st gens..... how many remaining
yeah, out of those totals, 84 taxed in 2013 and the rest on sorn but I think the way they record it, there's some crossover with those figures..... they seem high to me.... is there really that many on sorn? I doubt it.
What the data does show though is the drop in numbers overall, roughly the numbers taxed ( and presumably on the road) were....
2008 186
2007 220
2006 278
2005 366
2004 481
2003 595
2002 710
2001 871
2000 1.1k
1999 1.4k
1998 1.6k
1997 1.9k
1996 2.2k
1995 2.4k
1994 2.6k

Re: UK 1st gens..... how many remaining
wow some number in the 1990's and now down to a few hundred.
i used to laugh at some fb's commanding prices in the thousands, but looking at those figures, i'm not laughing anymore.
don't be surprised to see mint fb's in the £10,000 limit and above after a few more years as they become harder to find.

that's not indicative of rising prices though.... that's just someone with an unrealistic opinion of what their car is worth..... which is why it's been for sale for years and can't find a buyer.

"Asking"
It shows what he thinks it's worth. Clive asked £30k for his RX4. Agreed value insurance probably has it valued close to that.

Re: UK 1st gens..... how many remaining
if Clive valued it, it's probably got an agreed valution of 40 grand..... the bloke knows FA about 1st gen values.... first time someone goes into court with one of his valuations to try to force an insurance company to pay up, they'll be ripped to pieces and left seriously out of pocket. If that S3 in Scotland was worth the money, it would have sold for that amount, simple as. He needs to keep it for another ten years then try his luck again.

Re: UK 1st gens..... how many remaining
I would like to think that mine is up there with some of the best FB's left, but I bet I would have trouble getting £3k for it and Clive valued it £6/7k in 2010. One of the only FB's thats worth its money is Cliffs Elford and we all know its history.
