Porsches on the promenade 2014

Post by ian65 »

just had a long weekend on the coast and woke up this morning to find the Porsche club having their annual' Porsches on the promenade' meet on the seafront outside our hotel.
Now, after my Porsche took me for what seemed like the equivalent of the national debt, I'm not particularly enthusiastic about them ,especially nearly new ones which do nothing for me at all but I do love a classic car and there were some really gorgeous, well maintained and restored early examples among the 200 ish cars on display....
The early 1970's 911's, the 944's and even the 924's looked pretty cool..... in fact my favourite car there was a concours condition 924S in Guards red that looked as if it had just left the showroom...... it was just mint.

Here are a few pics

it's a great venue when you get yours on the road.... definitely worth going to, especially a car as rare as yours. A lot of the cars there were either nearly new or Boxsters but it was the classic stuff that drew all the attention..... cars like that 1986 911 turbo and the orange 911T, both of which were immaculate.

Some nice cars.
My favourites were the white Carrera CS and the silver Tech9 (never heard of either of them)

He must have some bottle to drive like that up the road around the Orme and get the front wheel off the ground....... I was a bag of nerves going up there in Cliffs Range Rover and we were only doing 25mph  Narrow winding coastal roads, sheer drops and great heights don't do it for me.

Have to admit some of the cars were stunning examples and they did look fantastic as a group ...........hmmm perhaps a possible venue for some of us next summer ???

Would have been awesome to have seen these going around the Orme on 4 wheels (never mind 3) but I'll bet they didn't see the pod of dolphins in the bay like us.

Great photos Ian and I noticed they even sneaked a JAZ amongst them too
