S1 Rx7 - External regulator?

Hey guys,

I was having a problem with my tacho and warning lights and i thought it was the alternator

Had the alternator checked by a rotary specialist and they reckoned it was working fine and it was actually the external regulator

Just wondering where this is located in the engine bay and if it's an easy fix or not? Would it be best getting it fixed by a professional?

It's mounted on the shock tower just back of the coils - I doubt it's worth spending the time repairing though. Is getting a secondhand replacement an option for you?
