Aren't they secured on the front strut by those horseshoe clips? Can't remember.
You sprag the clips off and the line comes off as one piece still fastened together?????

Snap the tabs off and weld replacements on.

Or just get coilovers and be done with it.

Please define 'sprag'. I have looked online for dictionary definitions and I can't see the context for your usage of this strange word. But I digress .....

Yes, secured by horseshoe clips. Clips came off but the two metals (brakeline and bracket) are fused together. TWiR gets all possessive when it comes to changing things I think the bracket is on the inner guard rather than the strut? Can't remember, will have a look tomorrow.

Ah, so it's been so long on the clip it won't come apart without the bracket giving way.
Pretty sure the bracket's on the strut.

'Sprag' was a made up word to signify use of an old screwdriver and a big hammer with fingers well clear.....

I assume you are changing both, so I would cut them at the bracket affixed to the strut, if nucing them with a torch fails

Mine are straight through stainless braided, one thing less to fail on

It appears that the issue was the brake hose / brake line connection. The hose would not separate from the bracket even though the line came away fine.

TWiR was still petulant a few days later when both front calipers decided to stick. Kudos to James for helping me out with those (again). So after cleaning up both pistons and bores and a good old bleed,the situation is still not solved but is greatly improved, enough to be ok for the RRG roadtrip.

RRG modifications ... weight loss by nixing the Janspeed backbox (a surprisingly effective piece of silencing kit) and resonator




James then insisted that he had the perfect solution, lighter, shinier and guaranteed to fit the gap just vacated by the Janspeed back section. And so it came to pass, an inch perfect fit

Would this be the same James who got done by the rozzers for driving around with no backbox on at all "to see what it was like"? Yeah, trust his opinion on exhausts

The twin pipes fill out the space better. I'd still like them to be slightly longer or have a rectangular chrome finisher like the '70's JDM RX's had fitted to better fill that rear apron space.

At present, it's running thru to the back box only, sounds nice from the outside but quite boomy inside so I'm looking to fit a resonator just before the rear axle.

I'm sure this system is quieter, as in quieter than James' current setup being the RB twin system thru to a custom back box. even with 2 pre silencers it still shouts louder

MOT tomorrow. Using a local garage for the first time, Mullan Speed Shop (as recommended by Classic and Sports Car). Will see how 'classic friendly' they really are and report back tomorrow.
