Well done Dave, must be nice to have her running again.
Lots of fuel on that rear rotor, I'd be checking things as Tool says.

Leads round the right way?

Leads round the right way?
Please clarify dizzy position. Do you mean in relation to timing light or rotor arm position in relation to TDC / L1? Cap only fits one way right?
Coils are T L (from left to right)
Plugs are
T1 T2
L1 L2
Connected timing light to L1 then T1 and checked multiple times. Will post up some pics for you. I'll do the same fast idle thing tomorrow now that timing and mix is set and see if I get the same glow.

Set at TDC. Remove dizzy cap and check the rotor arm is pointing at L1 on the cap before you removed it like I showed you.
I believe I put the dizzy in?
Where dies the lock but on the dizzy sit in relation to the slot? It should be in the middle.
It's not like I can pop over.

It's all as you say
And lock bolt is in the middle.
Now here's the strange bit. Checked it all again. If I connect the timing light to LI and T!, everything is good. However, connecting the light to L2 or T2 Rear rotor), I cannot see the marks at all, not even with the advance dial on the light! Any idea what's happening there? Very weird? All plug leads are correct.
Is it the same dizzy that came off my engine?

Just a thought. I'm using the dizzy cap from my old motor as it had my new ngk leads on it. Should I try swapping caps back?

Face Palm moment there. The timing on the rear rotor is somewhat different so I'd never see the marks anyway
Timing is spot on so issue is intake or mixture. More investigation tomorrow folks.

Put in some hours after work this afternoon. WD40 test was inconclusive and mixture was pretty much the same as before so I tightened everything that I could.
The only questionable bit was the replacement crankcase breather. As I've got a good set of long reach sockets now, I selected Mr 21mm and tweaked that a little more plus tightened the hoseclamps on the silicon hose which runs to the filler pipe.
Backed the mixture off a little more and ran the motor at 2000 rpm for a good 15 mins. No discernable glow but hard to tell without proper darkness.
A few bits and pieces to finish off before the next BIG THING which will be the MOT
Stuff what I done today ,,, devised a method to fit the bonnet all by myself. Now this might be nothing new to most of you but it was a little victory for me
Clean fan is hell a clean. Electric version to follow a some point
Little details
T'other side perspective
And started on fitting these ... MX5 wiper arms like wot Nik got

Tomorrow is MOT test day for TWiR. (well, actually it's Thursday but work has intervened to make life as difficult as possible so Andy at AMT has agreed to babysit the extra day. So, a last crawl underneath to check how much oil is still weeping from the sump (still weeping which is annoying). Might get Andy to attack it with Mr Torque Wrench as mine doesn't have a low enough setting.
Also noticed that the nuts on the front engine mount were not tight at all. That was probably a good thing to discover now. A couple of small coolant leaks have suddenly appeared from nowhere. Only hoseclips needing more tightening ... so needy these things
Had this made up for the first proper wheel turning in over a year. Please cross your fingers collectively

The advisory is obvious, a blue air cleaner clashes with a red car
