A little bit of progress today. Had to call in the pro's to get the sump bolts out and just as well I did. The reason they would not come out was loctite and a fair amount of it too. It even tried to destroy a couple of the dude's drill bits in the process. Evil stuff and no place for it to be on oil sump bolts.

I'll cop to overtightening the bolts maybe, but there's no way I used Loctite on sump bolts. You were there when I put it on.

Just saying.

I've got all the bolts you need. Can you come to the garage tomorrow night?

I know you wouldn't use Loctite on those mate ... that's why I'm all WTF on itl. It's a mystery and unfortunately, an expensive one. A Poirot as opposed to Magnum

A little more progress. I don't have a factory fitted T piece to accommodate the extra water hoses for the beehive so I did some measuring then ordered this little animal here ...


Also decided to put the inlet manifold and carb on now. Cleaned up the OMP lines then had to try and find where i'd put the world's smallest split pins for the OMP rod. Found one ... Is this the correct placement of the flat washer? Three holes in the rod so used the middle one.

Today's top tip ... a plastic coated paper clip is just the right diameter for the OMP rod. A worthwhile sacrifice


Had no reference for the routing of the OMP lines so trial and error time. First error


Second time then. Think I'm missing a clip to secure them to the front cover? Is this the correct fitment though?


Question time now. What is this for?


It has a hose attached that fits up underneath the blue box.... Well, it's supposed to have a hose attached. Closer inspection time ... Hmmm


Said hose has been on the garage floor for a while and I was wondering what it was off. Looks like the plastic fitment has snapped off. I can retrieve the plastic from the hose, glue it back on and cap it. I'm guessing it's for emissions stuff??

I don't have any great pictures on my OMP lines.. But you can manage to see the 2 clips if you zoom in to this picture a bit

I don't have any clear pictures for this one.. But I'm pretty sure it connects onto the oil filler neck aye. Some kind of breather I guess. No doubt someone else will be along to hopefully back me up! Hahah.

You are right, oil filler neck it is. Thnx for that. It's surprising what you forget after a long period of not being near the engine bay

The OMP lines are in the right place in that last pic. There's a metal tang which should go under one of the water pump bolts and just bends around the lines.
There's one sitting on the engine undertray.

Broken thing is a crankcase pressure vent one-way valve thing. Here's one I broke earlier



They're really crap, get brittle and cooked and basically glue themselves to the inside of the hose so when you pull it off the spigot snaps off with it. It screws in here;



I might still have an intact one somewhere but it'll probably take some finding

When I had the carb and manifold sitting on the shelf, it was all leaning on that hose so I guess it was all brittle and could nae take the strain LOL I'll try some glue for the time being. Thankyou for your helping.
