New guy from Bristol

Post by stid90 »

Hello. My name is tom,

I have recently bought my first rx7, it's a 1982. Which makes it a second generation? It was originally silver but the previous owner had it sprayed navy blue. She's not in the best condition as suffering from what I believe to be the 'usual' rust problems. So I'm going to treat her to some tlc to restore here to her former glory.

Hey mate,
Welcome aboard.
You car is a Series 2, but first generation aka FB. S1-S3 = first gen.
Make sure you take a look at Ian's rust guide. It's pretty much spot on for first gens.
Get some pics up too.
Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......

Hi, Tom. Good luck with the rust, hope it's not too bad hidden away under the bits you can see. Well done for trying to rescue one though :D

Hi Tom and welcome. I've noted the car previously for sale on Gumtree, good to know it's ended up on here.

I would really love the Reg No. for my register at some time. I try and keep a log of every 1st Generation Car in UK and Ireland.

(You can PM me if you don't want to put it up on the net). Or pics would be good.

Ah yes, series 2 that's what I meant haha silly me. Yeah I will sort a couple of pics out for you guys and it's reg is PEU 533Y. I will definitely be looking at the rust guide and am currently stripping it out looking for the nasty hidden stuff.

I'll be honest, I'm excited about this project and can't wait to get her on the road. PLUS I've never seen one on the road and nor have other people especially when I tell and show them what I have.

My register has 42 1st Gen cars in the whole of the South West of England. But get this, about 21 are in Tim's Yard at RX Motors, Blandford Forum, and you can be sure that 2/3rds of the rest are on SORN or in Barns. So around 7 only roadgoing, (Taxed not SORNed or Unlicensed categories).

Thanks greatly for the Reg.....not a car known previously.
