Re: Black Betty
A bit more done. Last of the rear glass out and the rear trim. Thats it for this week on the car as I am testing the westy tuesday and going to Prodrive to pick up my PP inserts. Thursday its off to get some ebay bits and bobbs. Might be able to squeeze in a few minutes here and there but it will only be boring cleaning and tidying jobs. At testing on Tuesday I will be at the same venue as the Silverstone/Lindop lads but they wont have the Group B car there only the rotary escort.
Also on the planned list for Marmite is to do away with the rubber bushed trailing arms and make some fully rose jointed links. Yum Yum

A bit of explanation required here... I can understand swapping floppy rubber for polybushes, but surely there can't be much benefit in rose joints over a polybush... or am I being thick again?

Re: Black Betty
There are no updates to date. Things on the westfield project have not gone well over the last couple of weeks and it has eaten all my spare time. Engine out twice, one shredded 3rd gear and an over rev on the engine which has caused damage. I am more annoyed about the gearbox than the engine damage as the engine truthfully was Poo anyway. So its all been put back together with sticky tape, cable ties and a blue peter badge for the final hurrah of the westy at abingdon on the 2nd Saturday in June. The plus side is that the handling has been totally transformed by aurok in Hampshire and through the corners it now sticks like Poo to a blanket.
So soon I will be back on betty and working hard.

Re: Black Betty
I went to the crystal palace today for the sprint. What a venue, I wish I had entered the westy. Anyway when I got home I started to take the brodie brittan kit off the rx. When the inlet manifold came off, for some reason I put my fingers in the inlet ports to find the engine is running a half bridge. I did some further digging and have found out that the engine was built by spike winter. Apparently he is/was a legend in the tuning field. Probably nothing to get excited about.
