Hi all
Going to whip the gearbox off for a rebuild soon as the input shaft bearing has developed a whine ( definitely not the clutch release bearing unfortunately )
Is this kit from Rockauto any good or would any of you have a suggestion for a better kit
Thanks
Vic

Re: Gearbox rebuild
Hi Vic,
You have to convert the bearings at the front of the input shaft to closed bearings, then there's no problem. You can make a puller for this with the silent block of the gearbox suspension and 2 long gearbox connecting bolts. The open bearings are flushed by the swarf abrasion and start to become noisy.

Re: Gearbox rebuild
Good advice Thomas thank you. Do you have a recommendation for a supplier or the sealed bearings ?
Thanks

Re: Gearbox rebuild
Unfortunately, the conversion was carried out over 30 years ago. The gearbox has not caused any problems since the long time and the many kilometers. I had the bearings from the German needle bearing factory "INA" in Lahr. The town where Felix Wankel was born.
But I would order Japanese NSK Corporation bearings, they are supposed to be the best quality. The dimensions are etched on the bearings or you can measure them.
