Haven't updated this thread for ages. Black car hasn't been out in years and needs some attention. White car has been in occasional weekend use and driven to work on sunny days last few years, a few small bits and bobs done but not a lot.

Changed the front plate and mirrors, might not be to everyone's taste.

This car seems to keep filling the expansion bottle and the radiator level gets low, so planning to sort that this year after dealing with it for a bit last year.

I changed the rad cap, and tube to the expansion bottle, and the radiator hoses and clamps were all new in the last few years. Will probably buy a coolant pressure testing set and test with the thermostat out. If it's coolant seals then thats a problem, hopefully something else!

Am hoping to take the car round the NC 500 this year, so some preventative maintenance going to be required before then.

Also had the anti roll bar drop link snap just before christmas.

it wasn't a very good drop link, and on the rear I don't think the anti roll bar is required so my fix might be just taking it off. I think rear bushes need changing as well.

I already had H4 wipac crystal lamp units and osram bulbs on my car, and the lights were pretty good, but I decided to upgrade to some bangin headlamps traditional lamps. These are an LED replacement that looks close to a stock sealed beam, but is an E marked LED projector unit, using glass lenses. Not just a set of LED bulbs in a reflector housing, these are the proper way to convert to LED headlamps. I bought some stainless steel mounting rings from Bofi, intended for an MX5, but they do not fit, so I instead wire brushed and re painted the old mounting rings, and replaced the bolts and springs with new stainless ones. I went for cap head stainless bolts, as I hate phillips/JIS/posi.

A while ago I bought a coolant pressure test kit, and my coolant woes turned out to be the radiator hose clamps. I had stainless mikalor T bolt clamps, I don't like T bolt clamps, worm drive is much better. I have replaced them since with some Murray turbo seal ones, no more issues of filling coolant expansion bottle.

I have had some pretty awful oil leaks in my white car, so I set about trying to sort it out. It appeared that there was an oil leak from the OMP, so I deleted the OMP.

After cleaning the oily mess, I got some 4mm aluminium from the scrap box and drilled a couple of holes, and filed it to shape.

I have had the Air pump removed from the car for a while, but still had the rats nest sat on top of the engine, I decided to remove it all. New silicone caps and silicone vac line used, and fitted a breather filter on the oil fill tube. There was a lot of grime to clean up too.

During the engine bay de cluttering, I decided to remove the extra pulley in front of the main E shaft pulley, and whilst it was apart I cleaned up the grime from the fan shroud and clutch fan. I also fitted new belts, a long one around E shaft, water pump and alternator, and a short one round the E shaft and water pump, no more slipping belt and better than a dual belt alternator pulley.

With the rats nest gone, the engine sub loom as a lot of dis-used connectors, so I cut out everything that wasn't being used, re crimped, heat shrinked and re wrapped it.
