3) probably still carb related, while coasting off the pedal and slowing down it is "lurchy" there is a knack, just touch the accelerator and it is smooth! any ideas?? it is irritating and not good for the drive train.

Yes a Triumph......had my TR6 man and boy...38 years!
Cooling is cool now on RX! radiator core not flowing well despite multi flushes. So flushed again and fitted the Ally rad along with twin cooling fans. It runs lovely and nicely cool. There is a long story about getting our radiator, poor courier handling and now we have two!
I have replaced coolant with the Non oat variety you mention, though went for concentrate. I mix my own using water from dehumidifier.
The car was great until two mishaps and daughter stranded on one way system in town on way to a classic car meet! it seems now sometimes one float needle is sticking shut...opposite to previous problem!! Now I know what it is hopefully soon sorted but in the meantime daughter very amused and had to film me tapping the carb with a hammer!!

I will continue the thread on our car here.....she runs lovely now with only the occasional issue related to the fuel tank which I had removed and cleaned but evidently not well enough!
We thought we had located a good S2 tank but the price then asked was frankly more than we would pay, I have had stainless tanks made for cars at less.
I recall a discussion with a forum member who had recently had a tank made...would they get in touch for a chat please?
Also I have many years ago had a fuel tank "opened" up at a specialist...cleaned, repaired and returned. Does anybody know of such a specialist still in business? Like radiator services and engine rebuild/machine shops they have mostly disappeared in the modern age.
Final option is to acid clean and use a tank sealer....I have done this in the past successfully but if anybody has a proven product do let me know!

How good was the series 2 tank you found? Can't be many in good shape these days, or NOS
Stainless/aluminium could be an option and what I plan to do with mine. But I'm doing it to be easily compatible with EFI. Just make sure it's baffled well
