Post by Victorsanders »

I know they’re rare as the proverbial.. but I’m searching for an Elford turbo badge.
If anyone has one for sale , please let me know :)

Thanks

They are super rare, cast brass then chrome plated.
I’ve got the ‘turbo’ badge for sale but not the ‘Elford’ one

I have 4 3d printers and a scanner myself (2 filament and 2 resin)

But if the original was brass cast and chrome plated then 3d printed just won’t be quite the same.

Iv found a metal casting company near by .. and a chrome plater. Kev is possibly going to lend me his Elford badge. Il take my turbo badge in and get a couple of casts made of both. Then get them chrome plated. They won’t be original. But at least they’ll have the same feel.

Crazy I know. I could spend a fraction of the cost printing them. B that’s the OCD kicking in 😂

So the guy was gonna charge £630 to cast copies in the end.

Not a chance ! .. so iv had both badges 3d scanned by a company with a much much more detailed scanner than mine.

Iv had them keep the casting marks in the model to keep it true to form.

I have found a couple of companies that can 3d print in wax and then cast in brass from that.

Didn’t want to go down this route but I don’t want to keep Kev waiting to get his badge back! (Thanks Kev!)

Here are a couple of pics of the raw STL file .. il upload an image of the final STP file shortly

Cheers

Vic

Here are the “reverse engineered” versions with clean edges.

Might get both made up if cost effective enough and then decide which I want to put on the car!
