Sellers description:

12A Engine
Wide bodied
Bodywork in really good condition - just spent 2k in getting some rust around the arches sorted and resprayed
Engine rebuild by hurley rotary at around 90,000
Interior all completely original apart from new radio
Also has had an immobiliser and alarm fitted to it sometime in the past
As far as i can tell this is 1 out of 3 of the RX7 FB that are left in the UK and is definitely the only one which has been widebodied.
I have no idea how much it is worth so make me an offer?
May potentially be interested in a px or swap if it is something interesting.
Please get in touch for more pictures and if you have any questions let me know

I quite liked it in it's original white...

Just saw this one on Gumtree - 1 of 3? I highly doubt that! Widebody and spoiler are certainly rare but that doesn't always mean they look good  interesting anyway, something different.

The parts car has reappeared: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294313862822 ... Swt1xgq8PT
Same as before but missing a few more bits, popped up this afternoon.

Is anyone in contact with this guy Ed? I've tried connecting via email on Gumtree as its the only way to contact him and zero reply. Is he just another one not really interested in selling, just tetsing the water?

At this rate that parts car might start to look interesting. (hp)

For that price you could buy my car, I've owned it since '89 and it has only covered 37k miles

I also dont think its worth that much, but when you cant even open a conversation to find out more before discussing the price..............

Still if your interested in selling your car at a sensibel price ping me a private email with the details and lets discuss.

I messaged Ed shortly after the advert was put up. I offered £7,000 but he wasn't taking it and now it's for auction on eBay (as he told me it would be). Said he was looking for £9,500 and reckons it's one of 4 left in the UK. Talked about FD3S prices and I told him to get lost in a roundabout sort of way because he's dreaming if he thinks they have similar value, especially his one. I reckon he doesn't know what he has which is a real shame and I pray it doesn't go beyond £8,000 on eBay because it sets a bad and expensive precedent. Again if anyone here is looking to sell their car in the next few months let me know :D

Bloody hell Dibs, you're not thinking of selling? Worth every penny of 10K, one of the last original condition 1st gens left in the UK.... you'll have to fight buyers off with a stick if you advertise it

I would be extremely wary of buying this car if I was a potential buyer.... it's been resprayed at least twice to my knowledge..... I last saw it in 2010 when a guy named Stu owned it in Tamworth. He'd had it fully resprayed only a few months earlier and already there were huge rust blisters under the paint on the roof.... the paint finish looked great but the prep / rust removal had been crap. Within 3 years it was again failing its mot for chassis corrosion.
I very much doubt that another 10 years have helped it.
It now wears another fresh coat of paint but again I'd want to see loads of photos of the prep and rust repairs before the paint went on.
After Tamworth it then went to York, Goole and then Lakenheath
Back in Nov 2010 it had done 95143 miles so hasn't been used much since then

I've been watching this out of idle curiosity, rather than as a prospective bidder, but just so you are all aware this guy appears to be playing games, and possibly trying to bid up the price himself. Shortly before the auction closed the price was £7300 with 25 bids, and then mysteriously the price dropped to £6900 with 23 bids. Bid 25 was an auto bid, and when bid 24 was withdrawn, the price defaulted to autobid 23, with same buyer. This buyer was also the 2nd bidder to initially bump up the price after a small long shot bid was placed, and continued to auto bid throughout the history. See:-

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154561008560 ... nl%3Dmkcid

I suspect he was left holding the last bid and decided to withdraw it hoping that the previous highest bidder stood. only to find that he was still holding the bid, given that the previous highest bidder had already withdrawn. Now however its for auction again starting bid £6000. See:-

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154569577900 ... 4569577900

In short if anyone by chance is interested then, taking full note of Ian's comments above, proceed with caution. I personally don't think this guy is to be trusted. NB as well the paint job is a quick lazy one given that inside all the shut lines the body work is still white. Note no pictures inside the engine bay and a somewhat tatty interior!
