The time has now come to part with my lovely Mazda RX7 FB.. I bought the car in September 2013, it’s a well known owners club car and has been to many shows and meets during my ownership over the last 8 years. It has always been garaged and has been a complete pleasure to own and drive

It is finished in the great colour combination of Sunbeam Silver metallic coachwork with full grey interior and comes with both the glass and factory steel sunroof panels.

The car was first registered on 27.03.1986 and supplied to it's first keeper by Freeway (Hove) Ltd Mazda main dealers, Hove Sussex.

The 1st keeper kept the car for 3 years before selling it to 2nd keeper in 1989. In 1994 the owner put the car into storage and it remained unused in dry storage for the next 19 years until I bought and re-commissioned it.

A benefit of the car being laid up in storage for such a long time is that it’s been spared 19 British winters on our salt laden roads and as such doesn’t have the corrosion typical of RX7’s from the 1980’s. The car has never been welded and apart from some very minor surface rust that will easily rub off it’s corrosion free underneath. It has never had any aftermarket underseal put on it and still has the factory finish underneath.

It was mot’d 2 weeks ago as seen here and passed with only 1 minor advisory for a deteriorated front ball joint cover.

Notable maintenance:

• All four brake calipers have had new seals and the brake fluid has been changed
• Engine serviced inc new plugs, oil & filter, air filter, antifreeze
• New gear box oil
• Front suspension fitted with Energy Suspension poly bushes
• New water pump
• Inlet manifold O ring changed and stainless core plugs fitted
• Oil cooler O rings changed

Although the car is in very nice condition for it's age, it has a few wear and tear marks commensurate with its age and from it’s time in storage

Notable issues are:

* The paint has a few minor dinks and scuffs from its time in storage…. A good ‘Chips Away’ guy would sort these out.
* Slight lacquer peel to the top edge of the front nearside wing ( caused by the local hand wash car wash with a jet washer)
* The drivers door has a dent / scrape below the rubbing strip.
* The tyres are old and need replacing.
* The rear deck has 2 rear spoiler mounting holes visible. I used to have a different rear spoiler on it, this has now been replaced with the factory spoiler
* The viscous fan drags and the belt squeals at high revs. It cools the engine fine but is putting a load on the engine and needs replacing or preferably changing for an electric fan.
* The drivers door glass needs adjusting in its runners….. goes down fine but sticks going back up.

The car only needs minor fettling to get it into excellent condition.

I paid cash for the car back in 2013 and it's HPI clear........ please feel free to HPI it yourself / check out its mot history.

Viewing the car...

Subject to government COVID guidelines and the usual precautions, (masks, distancing, sanitising etc) the car can be viewed at my home address in Stafford (5 mins from junction 13 M6)
I've highlighted the issues above that I'm aware of with the car but I'm not a car dealer or a professional car mechanic. The car is 36 years old and there may be things that need doing to it which I am unaware of. I've been completely honest in my description of the car and the known faults.

Any test or inspection is welcome before purchase and serious buyers are welcome and encouraged to view the car before buying.. I will take buyers for a drive in it to demonstrate the car but any buyers wishing to drive it themselves must provide me with proof of insurance before they get behind the wheel.( no exceptions)

The important bit..... please read...

As stated above, this car is my own private motor car, I'm not a dealer or a trader and this is a classic car that is 36 years old so I can't offer any warranty or guarantee with it...... you are very welcome to come and view the car and have it professionally inspected but once you buy it, you own it.
Don't expect to bring it back a week later if something packs up on it, that's the nature of owning 36 year old classic cars and although I may be sympathetic, I won't be taking the car back or offering restitution....
THE CAR IS SOLD AS SEEN WITH NO WARRANTY IMPLIED OR GIVEN.

The car can be viewed at my home address in Stafford ( 5 mins from junction 13 M6) and payment is STRICTLY CASH ON COLLECTION.

I will hold the car for 14 days on a non refundable £500 cash / bank transfer deposit but after that, I'll re-advertise it if it's not collected and paid for.
Please don't be surprised or offended if you don't receive a reply to your message that contains phrases like: 'will you take £4000 for it?', 'what's your lowest price?', 'do you want to swap it for my magic beans?' (or anything else). I am slightly negotiable on the price but I'm not going to knock a grand off it and I'm looking for a straight cash sale, not a part ex or a swap. I'm in no rush to sell and I'm not desperate for the money so I'll only deal with serious buyers who come and see the car and make sensible offers having viewed it.
Thanks for looking.

Hi Ian, shame it has to go. Are you sure you are not underselling it. Compared to some of the prices I have seen it looks a steal.
