hi guys, im new to this forum. ive recently aquired a 1982 mazda 626.
now one of my first priorities is to lower it. ive researched this and have discovered that you can fit 1st gen rx7 front struts to the 626 which will make the car sit 1.5" lower straight away.
my question is what year rx7 struts fit? as there is a few types of first gen rx7. secondly. is it just the front struts that can be fitted or can the rear shocks and springs be used aswell?
thanks in advance. Luke

Re: rx7 front struts
Off topic but what are your plans with the car?
They take a rotary pretty easy and are far better for it.
You'll probably want to get over to exile-rotorsport as that's where the main oldskool Mazda junkies hang out.

Re: rx7 front struts
Hi Luke,
welcome to the forum!
I think that all 1st gen struts are the same across all 3 series but the series 3 ones are the ones to go for as they are already set up for the larger brakes and better pcd( if you run the RX7 disc/hub)
As Ramon says, the Exile guys will probably know more about the interchangeability of parts with a 626 than we do on here.... you're very welcome on here all the same!

Re: rx7 front struts
Hey Luke, I have S3 solid disc front struts (not the vented discs) and S2 front struts (currently in my car, but am replacing) if you're interested. Also got all the other bit and pieces to go with.

Re: rx7 front struts
Well, I'll be looking be looking at the engine eventually but my first priority is to get the stance sorted.
The car is fitted with compomotive ml's at the moment so a suitable drop would make the car in my opinion.
I am intrigued at the thought of a rotary transplant and have heard that they fit into the 626 relatively easily, but I have very limited knowledge of the rotary engine so the prospect is a little daunting!
I'd also like to find a suitable LSD as I don't want to go down the welded diff route really so would be interested to know whether they're available for the 1st gen rx7 and whether or not it would fit?
In response to the struts, I'd be very interested, but I'm not sure which ones would be better for me, I guess the series 3 ones would only be ideal if I had the larger brakes to fit aswell? Or would my brakes fit the series 3 struts?

Re: rx7 front struts
There's a 12A going cheap on Exile. Best be quick.
Cusom springs are not that expensive either. There's a place in Sheffield that does good work.
LSDs for early cars are very hard to find. You running 26 splines? There's a chap in the Netherland's who reckons he has one up for grabs.

Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......
