Does anyone know if its possible to get a decent performance tyre for out cars in the S2 185/70/13" size without paying through the nose?
I've seen some classic car performance stuff but its coming in at well over £100 per tyre, some were £200 per tyre!
All I can find reasonably priced is a Uniroyal Rain Expert 3, which is a pretty mediocre performer.
I think down the road I may have to try and get the 4x100 S3 suspension & bigger wheels, but does anyone have any suggestions for the moment?
Maybe wider say 195 with a lower profile?

Nankang NS2 195/60R13, Nankang XR611 205/60R13, Vredestein Sprint Classic 205/60 R13, Dunlop Sport Classic 205/60R13.
Good experiance with Nankang, had them on my 323 GT and had Dunlops on my 323 GTR. Worst i ever had on my 323 GT, Firestone. Bloody dangerous in the rain, no grip at all! Throw them of afther 3 weeks, replaced them with Dunlops.

I've never tried Nankang, I guess I've been put off by the fact it sounds like a Chinese brand, and I've bought some cars with some truly awful tyres on that were Chinese.
Might give them a go then, cheers.
And I've had Firestones once, wouldn't buy again, as you say, rain performance was lacking.

S3 is 4x114.3 and 14" wheels have less availability than 13srotarypower wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2019 10:12 am Does anyone know if its possible to get a decent performance tyre for out cars in the S2 185/70/13" size without paying through the nose?

Re: 13" Performance tyres
Yeah sorry, not sure why I wrote that, I must have had an older car of mine on the brain.
So really best options are sticking it out at 13", which limits my brake size, although in fairness so far the brakes have been more than adequate.
Or jump right up to 15", at which point to help with wheel availability it probably makes more sense to try and do a GSL-SE conversion to gain the 4x114.3 lug pattern which is more common?
Since the whole suspension will be coming out over winter for refurbishing that will be the time to do it.
