S2 Brake Discs (rear) - Avoid Centric from Rockauto

Quick tip for you guys.

I bought Centric discs from Rockauto front & rear, the front ones appear to be perfectly fine, but the rear ones do not exactly match the car.
The centre of the hub that goes into the centre of your alloy wheels is too big.

The originals we measured at 59.5mm diameter, the Centrics came at 62mm, the consequence of this is that the wheels won't sit flat onto the discs as they can't slide fully on.

I got mine turned down by a machinist for £5 and they fit perfectly, but its annoying hassle when they should bolt straight in. Obviously sending them back to the states was a no no!

The US spec cars have different spec brakes for some of their models. What year did you select from the drop down?

For instance, their 84 thru 85 12a cars still retained the 4x110 bolt circle and the smaller diameter rotors and a different bearing combination.

Their 13b GSL-SE runs the same brake and wheel combo as the UK spec S3.

It is a minefield and a few of us have learned this by trial and error.

I chose 83.
I did measure the diameter and width of the discs before buying to make sure of things. (Or so I thought)

The discs fit perfectly and are the correct size, apart from that hub centre being a little too large. Now its been turned down its all good.

Fronts I had no issues with, though due to the bearings being part of it, changing them was more involved than on most cars. Luckily I'd bought new wheel bearings as well.
