Post by wiggman2030 »

Hi guys :)

I need a carb rebuild kit. Anyone know where I can get one from the UK or somewhere cheaper than Atkins in the us? Thanks :)

Well it's all rebuilt and lovely now apart from one thing I've noticed. I'm not sure if this is normal or not but if I leave the car for a couple of days I notice that the float bowls are empty. Should they hold fuel or is evaporation normal?

Thanks :)

I always let the pump run for about 15-20 secs (ignition on) to let the carb pressurise if she has been sat for more than 12hours, otherwise she takes 3/4 turns before starting. When you turn on ignition you should here the pump running under the rear seat.

I've always considered this perfectly normal on a carby car. I leave the ignition on until I hear the gurgle of the fuel going up the return line to the tank, then pull the choke, couple of pushes on the pedal and fires right up.

Looking at a carb rebuild kit since it's been showing signs of needing it last few times I've had it out. I've seen chat on USA forums about quality difference between manafacturers. Without getting too fasticious Is the above kit considered best quality or are they all much of a muchness these days?

I've also found rockauto have one too.
