Paint codes
Paint codes
Hello, I was wondering if anyone could please help me. I am after a dark gray metallic paint job for my FB I got a quote for £850 full respray including back to metal and base coat! All in need is a colour code. Is this a to good to be true quote, and should i be worrying about the finished job? And has anyone got any nice paint jobs they could give me advice with or codes please! Thanks Dave

Re: Paint codes
Hi Dave,
It appears to be very cheap and believe me from personal experience you never know what will be found when the the old paint comes off.
Sorry can't help with paint codes

Re: Paint codes
I would suggest you go into your local Automotive paint supplier & have a look at the colours available, they are usually helpful & willing to advise on the types & cost etc.Boggy2112 wrote:Hello, I was wondering if anyone could please help me. £850 does seem cheap, was he recommended? Have you seen his work? How long will it take? I think a bit of research is required on his track record first.

Re: Paint codes
Good advice there from Pete.... also, check out the colour of Thomas' car, that's a nice grey colour....
£850 seems to cheap for me too, even if you're going to self prep.... suppose it depends on the quality of the job you're expecting. Some colours hide impefections better than others.... whereas white will obliterate all sorts of dints and dents, dark metallics seem to highlight them.

Re: Paint codes
I've had panels done for £40 each and they still look great. Bargain!
He didn't use an oven though. I stripped the bright work.
He could well be legit, but you need to see his work first. Preferably after a year or two. You have to make sure any rust is properly treated/removed prior to paint it it's all for nothing.

Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......
Re: Paint codes
Old thread I know, but I'm curious if there's any online site that shows factory paint codes for our cars?
