fed up trying to get her to run properly, 12a elford

starts and runs on choke ok [ 2500 rpm] coughs splutters and wont idle under 2000 rpm, choke in, new built motor. timing her properly with gun makes it worse. tryin to keep it running and adjusting timing on your own is not easy.

Hi Monte,
I had a similar problem. I has a few guys look at it without resolving. I then got an SU carb specialist to look at and he cured it within half an hour. There aren't many SU carb specialists left

Yeah get someone to have a look at the carb - someone who has had experience.

You have done so much work to get this far, so it can be dis-heartening to be at this stage and still not be "on the road".

I should know as I am in a similar situation at the moment.

Get it reconditioned and then get to a rolling road with a Carb Specialist. It will all be worth it.

Monte, I lost the number when my phone and sim card decided to destroy themselves.
I will get the guys number again as I need a retune of my car.
The only problem is he has been retired for a few years and does the work more as a favour I am not sure he will want to come that far. I will get in touch and ask and let you know.

Hi Rip,

Are you sure it is the gasket?
My carb guy rebuilt my carb and it runs really sweet now.
Perhaps you could get him to take a look before you take off the turbo
