Good to hear the exhaust gas temperatures are ok. I guess that means I need a better egt gauge. My VDO gauge only shows temperatures up to 900°C. I will need an old looking gauge which is able to show a bit more. If you know any good looking egt gauges please tell me...[/quote]

This has a good temperature range and has a blank face when not in use http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290943031476? ... EBIDX%3AIT

Smoked glass doesn't fit old cars in my opinion. I need something like the old vdo gauges.

I've got a new question here!
I've allready owned a S4 Turbo II so it didn't surprise me that the water temperature gauge of my RX7 never went past the first quarter of the gauge but just to be sure I wanted to ask if anything could be wrong with the temperature. I've never seen an other S1 RX7 before with which I could compare my gauge readings. Not enough around in Germany...

Check the thermostat operation first if you are getting constantly low temperature readings.

The factory gauges are not great. Fit a decent aftermarket sender and gauge if you want to know what temps you have.

Some interesting news: I removed the bumpers and side skirts today together with a friend who is going to remove the rust. What we found was this:

The car must have had some kind of mazda race car color sheme originally. It would be so cool if I could repaint the car in its original color but what could it have looked like? I think I could sand down the red color till i can see the blue and white sheme but I'm still missing the vinyl advertisements. The red on the sides below the side skirts was one of them.

I really like the way this is going :)

When do you plan on sanding the paint back? Plenty of pics please :)

Just a short update: The wheels arrived today. No scratches at all. I just need to polish.
