Re: Double S stainless exhaust
I'm hoping David can shed some light on that..... these are copies that Dave posted on MRC a couple of years ago...maybe the handwritten notes are his?
I think that page 1 of the instructions show the mods needed to reduce the exhaust port inserts and cap off the airpump when fitting an aftermarket system but aren't neccessarily 'Double S'..... maybe Elfords used to supply their own exhausts???
I do know that Elfords used Janspeed to fabricate their systems for the vert early turbo conversions.
Page 2 of the instructions do show a 'Double S' system.... it had 2 imtermediate boxes plus the back box whereas the system shown on page 1 only had one centre box.

Re: Double S stainless exhaust
The original paper is in front of me now, tattered and torn, and it's back-to-back. In other words P1 and P2 came printed on one piece of paper.
I fitted a stainless exhaust from Elford to S2, WWA 535Y on 29th November 1986, using those instructions. I ordered it from Bournemouth; the guy's No. is the phone No. at Elford in 1986.
In May 2004 I pulled S3 B239 KKW to pieces - one of the good bits was a 'Double S' system. At that time I realised that the picture on the back of the original Elford instructions actually showed a 'Double S' system. (I think that date 5/91 is what was stamped on the stainless gubbins from WKK).
So I figure Elford cobbled the instructions together somehow, perhaps 'cos the Double S' picture was a good one. All this before digital pics guys.
Bit of a mystery but the important thing is that the basics are there to show you how to blank off the unused bits and pieces at the front end.
