G'day fellow forum members! I am a new member & still getting my head around forum procedures. My car is a series 3 purchased new in 1985. It has been in storage for the past 11years & about 6 months ago I decided it was time to enjoy that rotary experience once again. What condition after 11 years ? Paint & panels-original & excellent! Engine & transmission - excellent (after service). Interior - tired but usable for time being. Tyres - replaced. Fuelpump - replaced. Slave cylinders - replaced. Brake discs - skimmed & new pads fitted. Electrically - everything worked! I am now driving it & having a ball. Leslie.

welcome along, Leslie! Don't worry about learning forums... no-one's born knowing this stuff, lol.

It never fails to amaze me just how tolerant these cars are of being laid up for ages and still working. I think it's something to do with the water seals being in the housings rather than the plates on 12As. On 13Bs where they're in the plates they seem to corrode so much quicker. Lost count of the number of newly-imported FDs that spent a few months on boats and in docks, and then as soon as they got in the hands of their new owner, the water seals would fail :?

And a G'day to you! Welcome from another new member.

Don't sweat the forum/internet learning process. We're all always learning as they keep changing/upgrading the technology. I often find it's the unlearning of previous tech that gets me frustrated. :)
