Check for fuel at the carb. Pull the blue lid off. Look down the carb while pulling on the throttle lever. You should see 2 jets of fuel coming from the accelerator pump jets.
Check fuel filter. Check fuel pump function.
A fully charged battery will help crank it faster.

I've got the lid of and can smell petrol, where can I find the throttle lever to see if any fuel is coming out?
I can hear the pump running, no idea if it sounds as it should though. Also, I never emptied any old fuel that might have been in there - but I thought that the small bit of fuel straight in to the carb would cut out whether it was a fuel delivery issue?
What do you recommend as a battery charger - I got a maypole one but it doesn't seem to work, just keeps telling me it's not connected correctly (when I'm pretty sure it is!!
