S1 1979 MOT, Fabulous strong rot free car.

Post by -ME- »

This is a rare car in excellent structural condition. Paint is faded as it came from California, however the car is superbly straight and will not require 200 hours of welding like some i have seen, infact it needs no welding, just a new owner to decide which way to go. As it stands it is a turn key car that i would be happy to drive to the south of France then back home, do a track day at Brands and drive it to work the next day. The engine is 13b 6 port with turbo housings and center plate, ported much bigger than Pineapples templates. Its running an Ida, proper italian one, a light billet flywheel and higher oil pressure, sump baffle plate, holley blue pump. The suspension came from Brian's race car, as did the back axle and perspex rear window, racing beat front anti rollbar and exhaust system. I have a full bolt in safety devices cage that is fia certed, now unobtainable.
My aim with the car was to build as a 70s road sports racer and do HSCC meetings but I got into karting with my son and entry fees at £40 each per meeting for karting and the fact you get at least 4 sessions on track for that, car racing is not going to happen.
I have had alot of interest over the last year or so, however people outside the rotary world seem scared of the engines and two people who are already racing in the series had spoken to their spanner men and they were not keen to support their idea.
I dont have to sell it but i have just bought a 1955 Citroen hy van and need the space.

As a guide price i want £3500 for the car as it is. If sufficient interest in the parts i will split it up and put back to standard.

The parts being coil over front legs with s3 brakes and Hawk pads. Rear s3 lsd axle, engine with carb and exhaust ( a little small but sounds nice and passes nose test fine). The cage and other items i will list once the bulk of the car has gone or will do a deal for everything.

I am so stunned that these great cars are worth so little, i sold a Fiat 500 for £3500 in 1996, by 99 it had changed hands for 7k, just look at Escorts and other vanilla cars.....

Pm me for more details or fire away with any questions..

I assume this is the yellow one?

I'll take the suspension if you go the part-out route. And possibly the rest as a standard car when you've put it back together.

If you need any 79/80 bits give me a shout.

I hope you get some interest here Jon. It's such a well set up car and a good basis for track days or Historics.
