Just thought I'd drop by and finally say hi.
Bought TDP 175Y from Mad Mick (he posted here a couple of times) about a month ago, and finally got it on the road! I've had a classic Jap itch for many years since getting rid of my beloved R32 Skyline after 6 years of ownership.
I'll post some pics up shortly.......
It's got a backed up 41k miles, auto box (was looking for an auto as I get bad back shifting a manual), and I think may be the only auto on the UK roads?
Some nice things I didn't know the little RX-7 had:-
Rear discs
LSD (i assume!?)
Elec boot release
Elec Fuel cap
Elec Windows
Elec Mirrors
Classic seperate tape player
Classic seperate radio
Some of these I expect are standard.
Finally getting to have some fun after driving her for 2 days, holding back the gears and letting it wind up is great fun! The engine runs sweet as a nut!!
If there is anyone out there who knows, should I have a kick-down??
Anyway, enough drivelling - hope to share lots on here and exchange info/stories/parts etc.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Hi from the South East UK
Hi Mike,
a very warm welcome to the fb forum.... great that TDP 175Y has shown up on here.
It's a very rare beast being an auto...... I wonder if it's an imported car? Does the vin plate say FB or SA?
UK market cars didn't have LSD as standard but if yours is a different market car, it could have. To find out, jack the back end up and turn one of the back wheels. If both rear wheels turn in the same direction, it's LSD..... if they turn in opposite directions, it's got an open diff.
Your auto should have kickdown, it operates by a switch attached to the accellerator pedal that switches a solenoid.
I'll add a pic of your car to the forum banner with the other members cars.
cheers,
Ian

Re: Hi from the South East UK
Thanks Ian,
I'll have a check on the diff over the weekend.
It's an FB so European car (I think that's right). So maybe even rarer!?
I've got some pics I'll post. Here are some for starters.....

Hi Mate, as said, it's a pretty rare car you've got there. Don't know any other autos out there. (A bright Green Series 1 auto was scrapped earlier this year).
I'd have said it was an import but the VIN seems to drop exactly right for a UK 1983 Series 2.
Anyway, enjoy it and keep posting please. Your car must be given a name. It's a rule on here. Get thinking please.

Re: Hi from the South East UK
Been thinking a while, and unless it's been taken, my RX-7 will be aptly named Lucky.
Just spend another chunk of money on her this morning getting lazer tracking done. It feels a lot better now (I know the steering can be a big vague, but it was pretty bad!). Now feels nice and straight!
