New member looking to re-live excitement of 1989!

Post by blossom »

Hi out there from Nottingham and thanks to Ian65 for welcoming me to the forum.
I used to own a 1982 RX7 with Elford Turbo, C505 MCH. My wife and I went on honeymoon in it in 1990 but sadly 2 weeks later a taxi hit my beautiful car. Once fixed I could no longer afford to insure it as I was only 27 then.
The kids have now left home and I'm passionate to get a similar model to cherish.
My hair is no more but the heart still yearns for the feel of an RX7 Turbo.. 8-)

"looking to re-live excitement of 1989!"....
ha.ha. aren't we all?!!!
Welcome to the forum Nigel, good luck with your search, Elfords do come up for sale but not very often..... the most important thing to consider these days when buying a 1st gen RX7 is the condition of the bodywork and chassis..... mechanical parts are cheap and plentiful really.... there's a guide on the forum on the usual trouble spots and what to look out for.
Good luck with your search....

A quick dvla vehicle check has shown that your old car still exists and is on sorn somewhere which is a good sign..... if someone has bothered to sorn it, it's probably being looked after to a degree....

Vehicle enquiry
Registration number: C505 MCH
✔ SORN
MOT
No details held by DVLA
Vehicle excise duty
Vehicle excise duty rate for vehicle
6 Month rate £126.50
12 Month rate £230.00
Vehicle details
Vehicle make MAZDA
Date of first registration 01 August 1985
Year of manufacture 1985
Cylinder capacity (cc) 2300cc
CO₂Emissions Not available
Fuel type PETROL

Vehicle status SORN in place
Vehicle colour WHITE
Vehicle type approval Not available

I wonder if Dave has any info on it in his records?

cheers,

Welcome to the forum, you are in the right place to find an elford but they don't come up for sale too often. You would probably have more luck finding a good solid car then converting it to a turbo, the bits to do this are out there.
Hope your marriage lasted longer than your car :D

Hi Nigel, Greetings.

Your pic above is back to front....you can tell I look at the reg plates first!

I don't recognise MCH but I'll have a look on my files, next day or so.

Cheers.....Dave

be interesting to see if you could find the current owner and see it again.
even better if they sold it to you.

That car looks a real nice buy Nigel... we were watching it on the forum when it came up for sale..... put up a build thread if you get chance so we can follow your progress.
