Good day from Florida!

Post by E.Areingdale »

Hello, I am an enthusiastic petrolhead with an avid fan of the first generation RX-7. I've loved cars all my life and have worked on them since I was a kid. Most of my toys were car-related. I played racing video-games, had Lego car sets, and I had tonnes of Hot Wheels. I loved playing the simulation-type video-games, like Gran Turismo, which inspired my passion for motorsports. I love racing. I want to be a professional race-car driver racing in Le Mans or Super GT, or even the WRC. I've raced in Autocrosses in my brother-s '02 Jetta, and, even though I never went past 50, realized that I really like racing, and that it could be more than just a dream. In my first autocross, I finished 8th out of 10, and considering I was the youngest guy there (17 at the time), I was running the slowest car there (2.0L 4cyl. engine + 4-door body + safety and comfort features = 0-60 of over 10 seconds), and I had the least experience, I really didn't do too bad. Considering also that I am quick to learn, I think I've got potential!
I currently own one RX-7 FB, my first car actually. It is definitely a work in process. Plenty of stuff to do in the interior, a couple mechanical quirks here and there that need fixing, but the car runs strongly overall. It has the typical dead zone in the steering near 0°, just fixed the typical oil leak from the o-rings under the beehive oil cooler, has cosmetic rust, but I just found a serious rust hole on the frame practically underneath where the pedals are. The guys that had the car before the man who owned the car before me installed some sort of sound system, which the man took out and he tried to install the original radio, but the wiring for the original speakers and radio are all sorts of messed up, so he left it like that for me to tinker with. Plenty of cosmetic needs and wants inside, with the entire center console missing and the window glass off its rails in the driver's door. The car's left me stranded before, once because the alternator died and drained the battery, the main fuse blew another time, and just yesterday my wheel fell off going 10 mph (I forgot to tighten the lug nuts after working on the car for a week. Forgetful nature).
I love the RX-7, and while mine needs work, I love it too. Only complaint would be finding parts. Not too easy to find specific parts where I live.

Hey, welcome

lol at the wheel incident, that's the sort of thing I'd do  Hope there wasn't too much damage. Good job you were still going slow. Sadly, it seems parts are becoming a trick to source wherever in the world you are. Be good to see some pics of your car if you get a chance

we all like pics :D
