Got a load done today - fuel rails back on and pressure tested with the cacky ebay FPR but all held up under 50psi so am confident that when the Malpassi is on it'll all be good. Took a bit of creativity with the grinder to get the banjos to work with the rail but all is sweet. Inlet gear on to, and a nice surprise from my talented welder friend who rocked up with my turbo manifold. Here's some pics, they make more sense than my blithering.
Take note of a future rotor head - my 7 year old daughter getting stuck in. *swoon*
And dedication to the silly old fart faffing about with his tang lol
Radiator coming this week, downpipe the week after...
Start up in two weeks. I can feel it.

Well pretty inactive on the progress, been busy on excavation for my extension and waiting for bits. Come home from Wales to this pretty sight.
The radiator was originally destined for a mk2 golf gti but it was the perfect dimensions so finds itself going in the 7. It's minus a pressure cap though as golfs use an expansion bottle so I've ordered a weld on neck to add one on.
Just gotta sit and wait now, for my welder friend to work his magic.

Cheers Damon, it's a series 4 motor with a fairly large streetport. Only running OEM Mazda seals though, nothing fancy. I can't decide about injectors at the moment - am tempted by yours but am also looking at the 1680's on eBay.....

if your only running pump fuel and not going to run c16 or e85 - my RC injectors in the secondarys with stock 550s for primarys will support 14-16psi of boost no worries.
Or failing that i could work out a price for the 2 indy blues and 2 RC 1300s - i ran this on my 12at and was good for 312 on 11psi high comp 12a with plenty of injector let
let me know as all my stuff will be soon packed an in a container..
We'll not the grande finale I'd hoped for today due to me having to get a load of stuff ready for the ground workers but still some progress nonetheless. As mentioned before, the radiator I bought was meant for a vw golf which for a start, have 32mm outlets rather than 38mm. So, we had to make it work for the 7. This required us to add a nozzle for the heater return, a pressure cap for the expansion bottle and larger inlets. Here are the results, alloy tig welding is so darn pretty.
As you can see, the bottom outlet is at a 40° angle to allow for the lower pump outlet - and we're planning on mounting the radiator at a steeper angle in comparison to the intercooler to try and eliminate some of the heat soak that led me down this path in the first place. Next weekend it'll get brackets welded on either end and mounted properly - but this is how it'll sit, luckily suiting a cut down FC top hose perfectly.
Thats it for this week, upwards and onwards.
