It could have been a lot worse... another few inches and it would have obliterated the front as well as the wing. The panel between the headlights has bent up but not crimped so hopefully the slam is still straight underneath. The wing is destroyed, hopefully the bumper is repairable cos I won't be finding another one any time soon. What's a worry is how bent or broken the suspension is. The wheel was touching the rear of the wheel arch and when I drove it up the road to Super 7 the steering wheel was at 90 degrees left when the wheels were dead ahead.

Fair to say I reacted pretty badly at the time. Especially to all the interfering NIMBYists who catapulted out of their front doors to lay the blame on me for speeding... which I obviously wasn't since this is a residential street, parked up both sides and with only room for one car at a time. One bloke got me really wound up; I'd actually slowed down for him as he was crossing the road in front of me to get to his parked car. Then I looked back ahead as I passed him safely only to see the idiot pull out right into me. This bloke is then all "well, the speed you were bombing along there you were asking for it" despite that I'd actually slowed down for him seconds before. Just a typical fool who wants to get involved despite it's nothing to do with him. Don't think he liked the way I'd put several f***s and c***s into the kid who hit me and decided I was a menace to society and that was that. What really boiled my piss was that his wife comes out from behind her caravan and backs him up, despite by her own admission she didn't see any of it. Apparently I must have been speeding "because people always tear along here like it's a racetrack". Honestly, I hate people like this at the best of times; they know nothing, saw nothing but that doesn't stop them forming an opinion and doing their best to cause grief for others. All it needs is for the insurance to see a couple of witness statements with "SPEEDING" on them and they'll clutch at any opportunity to get out of paying, despite the fact the kiddie has failed to give way at a Give Way and thus ought to be 100% at fault.

Anyway, I think it's fair to say the police were called more because someone thought I was about to spree kill the entire neighbourhood rather than because of the actual accident. Fortunately my mate lives just up that very road and came down to lend a bit of moral support, and Chris from Super 7 dropped everything to come and help out too, cos I was feeling a bit outnumbered at one point. Eight of the kids' hood rats mates had appeared out of the ether when he texted them all and he had a passenger in the car too... at one point I had to tell him to shut the **** up or I'd knock him out since he was giving it all the large as well. There's nothing worse than being the innocent victim of someone's idiocy and being treated by Joe Public like you're Public Enemy #1  Leaves almost as bad a taste as the actual damage

wow, that sounded bad mate. have to laugh at these people who see nothing and suddenly know what happened, i dunno why they come out and start crap like that trying to wind people up no doubt or get a moan across about others speeding and its all your fault. but i can understand why people are starting to copy the russians with these dash cams as they record everything and then there is nothing to really contest as the whole thing is on video to replay.

i hope it all gets sorted out for you and you can fix the suspension and it's a case of a new wing and bumper repair. but there is nothing worse than people causing the accident and then trying to blame you on it. :x

Now the adrenaline has worn off, I bet your whiplash injuries are becoming apparent....... you know how stiff your neck feels, like your head is just balancing on your shoulders, how you can hardly turn your head......it often takes a day or so for the symptoms to appear..... get to your doctors on Monday, tell him how you feel, tell him of the anxiety you feel whenever you're in a car and approach road junction or see someone pulling up to a give way.... will they, won't they, will they, will they, won't they.... it's almost too much to bear, the tears will be welling up in your eyes.
Next stop, down the police station to report it as an injury RTA. At the moment, they are treating it as damage only, no police involvement.... once someone reports it as an injury rta, they have to investigate it. The driver pulling out of a give way into the path of oncoming traffic is driving without due car, no excuses.... if he'd have looked, he'd have seen you..... if he din't see you, he didn't look properly.
Local resident s can't state how fast you were going unless they had a vascar on you or have some expertise in speed assessment.... the woman who claims you were speeding but didn't actually see the incident or your driving prior to it would be torn to shreds in the witness box.
All of the above is leading to a prosecution of the other driver for driving without due care in which case the insurance would have to pay up..... and as a bonus, the minimum whiplash claim is £1500 and no one can prove you haven't got it.
If someone crashed into me, even at 5mph, they have to cut the roof off to get me out.

Sorry to hear bout the car nik, :(
Iv been there when you get people sticking there nose in where its not wanted and making stupid comments, angers the blood. I crashed my integra type r many moons ago after rolling it 3 times into a field and as im climbing out of the window dukes of hazard style, a passer by decides to run the gauntlet of pieces of wrecked car like the emmerdale plane crash and the first words from his mouth were you were speeding not are you and your mate ok but you were going too fast. How about you get out my face before you look like my car feels, toss bag. Hopefully it works out for you and don't let them grind you down. ;)

^^lol, good response

Unfortunately, I slightly took credibility from any attempt at claiming injury by being out of my car, with the kiddies' drivers door open with a view to beating him into a small greasy smear almost before it had come to a stop
