Post by ian65 »

has anyone got a supplier for these for a series 3... the anti squeal shims and the wire springy thing that goes onto the back of the pads?

Ooooh yes, these things.....they rust out quick as jack flash.

I've tried to keet mine going by rubbing grease into them. (Then rubbing them hard with a cloth so's not to leave any surplus whatsoever left to contaminate - just to leave the tinest surface film of grease on the rust).

Rockauto sells the slider clips and the anti rattle springs (they list it has "disk brake hardware kit"), since you have the same wheels as our GSL-SE I assume you also have the same brakes (are the rear rotors vented on your S3's?), so just make sure you select a 84/85 with a 13b.
Mazdatrix also sells the hardware kit but its quite a bit more money.

I got these off EBay recently http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400377473480? ... 1438.l2649

A pair of spring wires and eight anti rattle retainers. I think they are for the rears though... which I haven't had off yet.

The anti rattle retainers for the front pads are bigger. Any idea where I would source those?

Does anyone have a photo of how the 'N' shaped spring wire fits to the pads? The Haynes manual has a grainy B&W photo for front and rear pads but nothing is clear. I believe the spring inserts to a hole in the pad and that this pad should be inboard.

Have got nice new front shims, clips (except the larger spring loaded ones) and wires from RockAuto (84-85 13b). Has anyone still got the wire thingy fitted? Most seem to have disappeared?

You mean the Z shaped thingy?

Same as RX2 and RX3 dude. Yeah, they fit into the hole in the pad.

Yes, the Z shaped one (different points of view here obviously) :D I need to see how they fit as I have no reference and Haynes photo is useless.

So one end fits into the pad, where does the other end secure to?

It sits pressed against the inside of the caliper and this holds it in place iirc
