kiwi ROTORHEAD in Oz

Post by madazbro »

Hey y'all!

My names Marcus, I'm a New Zealander living in Australia and of last week I purchased my first rotary, a 1985 Mazda rx7 with a 12a. I've been a rotary fanatic for the last ten years and finally made the purchase and already planning the next one! Something turbo next maybe.;) Anyway, the rx7 is a beaut, she's in really good shape body wise and the motor seems to be healthy with a full exhaust and little modifications. One urgent mod is getting rid of the slush box for a manual. Probably just be using this forum as a knowledge base for all the many questions I'll no doubt be asking. If you're in Perth or just want to have a yarn about rotaries feel free tp say hello.

Cheers,

Marcus

Hiya, welcome along. Pics would be nice, if you get a minute? We never really got auto 1st-gens in the UK. I wonder if there are some advantages to be had there; for example auto FD RX-7s had different (some say better) diff ratios, cruise control and climate control rather than a simple blower fan. Interesting to see if auto FBs had any plus features to suit the character of the car, too

The UK did get auto FBs. I personally removed the 12A from a series 1 auto. UK new.
Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......

Yeah, maybe I didn't phrase that as accurately as the pedantic in the audience might have liked :P . Perhaps "UK buyers were offered autos but most people had the good sense not to buy them" would have been better?
