Hello from Kiti in Greece

Post by Kitiarra »

Hello everyone,
We are Anna and Alekos from Greece and we live in the island of Crete. We already own a RX7d Turbo and a RX8 cosmo so as you can see we are already rotor lovers family! In one of our rides with the RX localy club we came across on an abandoned red RX7b and ever since we both have a crash on it! We are still looking for the owner but people tell us its been in the same spot for at least 5-8 years its tyres are off so propably it hasnt move ever since... However It looks in good shape -factory made, the interior is in perfect condition with its factory leather seats clean as new.... The exterior is dusty with a small hit on the drivers door, the colour is misty from the sun and rain but there is no rust on it.Its rims are the factory ones with the rotor shape. We dont have any clues for its mechanical condition but we think it might be a GLS with 12a on if we are lucky, we are fasinated by the idea of fixing it by ourselves if its damaged since we are familiar with wankel engines, we have the RX local club members help and support and its really hard finding a RX7b to buy. Ill try get some pictures of the car so you can see it and tell me your opinion, hopefully people wont think i plan stealing it or anything... :P
Hope to hear from you soon and nice meeting you!

Kalispera :D Welcome. Bit jealous, I love Crete. We spent our honeymoon there, near Maleme and absolutely fell in love with the place! Bit daft really, a Cypriot holidaying on Crete but then the Cretans don't want me to do my National Service every time I visit

Anyway, hope the car works out for you. Are RX-8s called Cosmos in the Greek market then?

Hi and welcome :)

Sounds very interesting! In the uk the dvla (who hold all vehicle owner details) will tell you the keeper of the vehicle, not sure if you have anything like that in greece?

Hope you give it the home it deserves though :)

In UK you have to submit form V888 and £2.50 and if you have good reason to know, then as Rich says, they will tell you the present keeper.

Hello there,
Yes we do, its called motorisation servise here. The first problem is the car doesnt have lisence plates on and the second is to convinse the motorisation servise do their job. There are not electronicaly saved information about cars VINs, cars owners information, cars licences, cars licence plates. Imagine that car has given up its lisence plates at least 8 years and you need to find both of them you see they are just piled up. :D
So we give up on that way... We left a note wich was gone and none showed up... We have some friends who live in that area looking for information from neighboors etc... If that doesnt work either well go with the hard way....we will put an 'abandomed' sign on it and follow the procedure if we are lucky well get it from Scrap and pay only its weight in metal..... We are determined get it in one way or another unless the one who has it doesnt want to give it so well have to keep looking for another which is very rare to find... :/

Here is a photo of the cars licence plates 'storage' idea in the motorisation servise...

Hi and wellcome, I spend a lot of time on the island of Rodos and have been going there since 1978, and have never seen a RX7FB on the island, and I'm looking all the time.
Good luck with getting hold of this FB.

Hello thank you and nice to meet you!
Its beautifull there but if you want find an fb you have to look hard. There are few left and most of them are locked in garages... Generaly people here are not familiar with wankel engines, they dont know how to fix them, the presentative fix them for realy high prices and because of all these the reputation RX are not reliable came. So most of them end up in automobile junkyards. The first RX7 was fixed on its owner house sideway since its egine is so simple and easy to re-build (parts he bought where from junkyards and paid them by their weight in metal). It spread around and RX7 owners start gathering learning by their own how fix their cars. So one day dozen of cars went for a ride in the centre of Athens and everyone were like 'what are THOSE and where did they COME FROM?????'. The bad thing is people still think the same of RX7 and RX8 as they did back then. You cant imagine what we hear everytime we get our cars out. So I would love see all these guys faces when they get mud on their hoods by an antique! That would make 15-20 people and 1 car extremly happy i think!
P.S.: Today that guy who fix the first RX7 has a new hobby: he turns wankel petrol engines to gas... :D
