Middle East Motoring

Post by MelloYello »

Check out Jassem Al Janahi’s iconic Japanese classic – the Wankel-engined first gen RX-7

http://www.motoringme.com/features/1985-mazda-rx-7/

He has himself a straight looking 7 there.

that's one gorgeous car.... doesn't look as if it spends much time out in the desert..... the first series 4 1st gen I've ever seen too ;)

Lovely-looking car. Not totally convinced by the reportage, though. That "series 4" bit isn't the only part that had me scratching my head :?
journo wrote:Jassem’s car is amongst the last of the first generation cars, a series 4 – the main differences being cosmetic like the full width taillight section on this car and minor tweaks inside. This car is a GSL version with the 12A engine – a 1.1-litre unit with two ‘thermal reactors’ producing 100bhp from two spark plugs per reactor (cylinder).
It would have been slightly more accurate if they'd just cut and pasted from Wikipedia

I'm surprised it runs at all with the spark plugs fitted to the thermal reactors, never mind making 200bhp..... must be the advantage of having 2 thermal reactors.

piss taking apart though, credit to the owner, it's a great looking 1st gen.... I wonder if it looked like that when it came off the boat from the US or if he's spent plenty on it to get it into that condition?

I lived in Dubai for 5 years, shame I never got to see this one on the Sheik Zayed Road (12 lane highway down the middle of Dubai)

Whats more interesting about this is that UAE law prevents you from importing a car that is more than 5 years old............

Old Jassim must have good wasta somewhere in the Dubai RTA !
Met Blue Series 2 Elford Turbo
S3 Rally Car (Done - Motorsport UK Passport issued !)
