Hello, I'm jj from North Carolina

Post by Jjs »

I have often read rx7 forum topics for information about my 84 gsl-se but the gsl-se is not as common as as the fc so info is limited. I have never joined or posted on one these forums before so I chose this one because it is 1st generation specific so I thought this is a good place to share info on these increasingly rare cars. I have a 1984 gsl-se with 252,000 miles on it. The car used to be my daily driver but i stopped driving in 2007 because i got a job that i was always out of town and traveling for. the car has always had a few issues but after it set for 5 years those issues got worse but now after a lot of research on this unique fuel injection system I have got it almost running how I want. This car has got a lot of gizmos and gadgets on it for a mid 80s car but the more I tinker with it the more interested I get in learning more about it . so thank you for accepting me in this forum and I look forward in chatting about these awesome cars.

Hi there, JJ and good choice for your first toe in the water of car forums, lol. You definitely have a rare beast there, and we over this side of the Pond are pretty jealous of the full toy box you guys got with the GSL-SE  250k mileage is pretty damned impressive, is that still the original engine? So much for rotary unreliability, huh?

If you get a chance, it'd be great to see some pics and hear more about the car

As far as I know it is the original engine, it was high mileage when I got it. I also have another 85 gsl-se that I stripped all the parts off of so I have an extra engine, front and rear end, etc.... . But that car had already been stripped down from someone was gonna make a race car out of it so many parts were missing. i will post some pictures soon, it is a little rough around the edges but solid. Not too much work needed. thank everyone for all the quick welcomes.

Thank you for the offer, I have a factory workshop manual that I downloaded. the biggest problem i had was getting it to idle right but I just about got it now. I found a major hidden vacuum leak.
